Exploring Whitby’s New Local Businesses on Brock Street

Taylor’s trip to Toronto has taken us to about 5 different coffee shops thus far, and we’re not even sorry! Yesterday, we spent the day in downtown Whitby and stumbled upon its newest espresso bar – Brock Street Espresso. I had been watching the countdown on their instagram leading up to their opening day, so I was very excited to try out the place. It was delish!

I had their hazelnut latte with oat milk & Taylor had their vanilla latte with coconut milk. We also tried some of their more savory breakfast items – the chive and cheese scone & the spinach feta bun. They were just as tasty as the coffee.

Since we can both work remotely, we decided to make a work day out of it, and we were able to get everything done right there at Brock Street Espresso thanks to their warm environment and free WiFi. At the front of the shop, they do all the coffee things, and there’s even a couple of sitting areas up at the front by the window. We found it to be a great spot for candid (not candid) photos! The way the light hit those windows was just perfect!

At the back of the cafe, they have an awesome space. There’s a large table that could seat 6-8 people comfortably with laptops and reading. This is where we got all of our work down. There’s plenty of outlets for a charge up too. Even further back, there’s a super charming sitting area with a beautiful couch, some really cool older trunks and some absolutely stunning chairs. The lighting was just perfect for a cafe too, nothing harsh or too bright but bright enough to read a book.

After our super successful venture to the coffee shop, we found another new local business that had also open this same week – Le Chic Boutique! This is a salon that specializes in manicures and pedicures, and it’s is absolutely stunning! The whole time I was there, I was basically just looking around at all the aesthetically pleasing decor and designs.

We met the owner and heard the story of how they began and were able to learn a bit about the process of opening up shop on Brock Street. The staff was incredibly friendly the entire time bringing up fun topics to talk about and really engaged awesome conversations.

Basically, if you’ve ever been to a stuffy spa that just seemed like way too fancy for pretty much anyone but Beyoncé to be there due the “better than you” attitude of the clientele and staff, you know how awkward that can be. I’ve been to WAY too many places like that, and I’m just kind of over it. This Was Not That Place. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

It was everything I hoped it would be, honestly. It was beautiful in the outside and the inside, just like all of their staff. We had plans to just get pedicures but had such a good time that we went with a full mani too!

They use all the new technologies and all the “healthy options” while still being able to give you the look you know and love lol 10/10 stars for them 🌟 Also, they gifted us with gift bags when we left! How sweet?! Definitely check them out.

Our day on Brock Street was so much fun. Moving out of the city and into a suburb had me concerned that we wouldn’t have lots to do like before, but that’s just simply not the case in Whitby. There is always so much to do, and I am absolutely loving the experience of “meeting” my new town!
