Hey friends, happy Friday!
I have 2 words for you today: Be Kind.
After the newest Cinderella movie came out, graphics were stamped with these two words, preceded by the words Have Courage. It was like a movement was taking over because Disney put out a movie that pushed for others to Be Kind. Mind you, I love Cinderella just as much as the next girl, and she may very well be my favorite Disney Princess. Also, I’m all for a Be Kind movement. Heaven knows, we could use that in 2017.
But.
Before we believe that Cinderella said it best when she told us to Have Courage and Be Kind, let’s back up and see where those two words actually originated. That’s right, she didn’t say it first.
Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be ye kind, one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as Christ hath forgiven you.”
Now this isn’t an attack on Disney or Cinderella. I applaud them for teaching this important life principle. This is a wake up for us thinking that Being Kind is a movement.
What?
That’s right. It shouldn’t be a movement. It should be a 24/7 lifestyle that goes beyond making 2017 better. We should always Be Kind. Not just when Disney makes it popular, or when we are in front of other people, or when we could become a Social Media Influencer with a video that goes viral. No. We should Be Kind for the sake of others, not for our own glory, and not only when it’s convenient.
Being Kind should be the norm.
And yes, other people are not kind. The world is full of truly horrible people, but how does that even factor in to our ability to be kind? Why does that matter at all? It doesn’t. Other people don’t have to Be Kind for us to. Ya’ll know I like reasons, and lists, so here are some really basic and simple reasons why we should Be Kind.
Be Kind: Because you can.
Because it’s worth it.
Because others need it.
Because you only get one chance at life.
Because it’s the right thing to do.
Because it’s easier than being a troll.
Because someone else was kind to you.
Because you don’t know their backstory.
or Because maybe you do.
Being Kind isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. When you want others to Be Kind to you, lead by example and Be Kind first. With so many of life’s luxuries costing us hundreds and thousands of dollars, kindness is a luxury that is completely free but worth millions. Share in the comments how you can Be Kind today 🙂

P.S.
Remember, it’s easier to Be Kind to others when you are kind to yourself. Sprinkle a little kindness on yourself today and then throw it around like confetti ❤
